How
to help your caregiver with this topic
- Make time to visit
with the child care health consultant (CCHC) and the caregiver if a health or developmental
concern about your child is raised.
- If your child is having difficulties in a program, suggest an on-site
consultant, print out the state contact for health consultants and give to your
caregiver.
- Attend parent education programs provided by your caregiver and a CCHC. Be
willing to pay a small fee for the programs.
- If your caregiver is not familiar with CCHC services, she may be concerned
that this consultant will come in to look for licensing violations. Let her
know that even though the consultant would have to report child abuse if she
sees it, the purpose of her visit is to help the caregiver. CCHC’s are not
licensing inspectors.
- Ask your caregiver to let you know when the CCHC will make her/his next visit.
