Tip: Print the poster out for your babysitter
at home.
Print out the following materials specially written
for child care providers:
Reducing
the Risk of SIDS in Child Care Settings (Applicable Standards from Caring
for Our Children, 2nd Ed.) (note: this
may
take some time to load if you don't have broadband Internet service)
Encourage your caregiver to stay current on the latest information on reducing the risk of SIDS by visiting the websites
listed in Additional Resources.
Encourage your caregiver to take a refresher class on Reducing the Risk of
SIDS as part of their continuing education.
If there is a SIDS death in your child care program, the caregivers
will need the same type of support as the parents. If you see that they are
not getting care for this severe emotional trauma, make some calls for them-
start
at local public health agencies; get them hooked up with peer and professional
help. Contact First Candle/SIDS
Alliance.
